A 20,000 L/day CITOR reverse osmosis system delivering safe, reliable potable water to a private villa on Nusa Lembongan, Bali — every day since 2013.

The Challenge

The owners of a private villa on Nusa Lembongan required a reliable, safe and consistent supply of clean water for guests and staff. Local water quality was unsuitable for drinking or general use, creating the need for a dedicated potable water solution capable of supporting the entire property without interruption.

The Approach

CITOR designed and commissioned a brackish water reverse osmosis system tailored to the villa's raw water conditions and daily consumption needs. Engineered to produce 20,000 litres per day, the unit supplies drinking water, showers, the pool, kitchen and general amenities across the property.

To guarantee uninterrupted service, ten 5,000-litre storage tanks were installed to hold filtered water — a 50,000-litre buffer that maintains supply through periods of peak demand or fluctuating raw water quality.

The Outcome

Since commissioning in 2013, the CITOR RO system has operated every day without fail, delivering a safe, reliable water supply for the villa. Guests can drink from the tap, shower and brush their teeth with confidence, using clean filtered water produced on site. The installation has significantly enhanced the villa's guest experience and operational resilience, giving the owners long-term assurance and peace of mind.

Engineering Challenges

  • Treatment of locally sourced water unsuitable for potable use
  • Continuous daily supply across a full-property load (drinking, showers, pool, kitchen, amenities)
  • Buffering against demand peaks and raw water quality fluctuation via staged storage
  • Long-term reliability in a remote island setting with limited servicing access

System Specification

  • 20,000 L/day brackish water reverse osmosis system
  • 4 × SW4040 seawater membranes
  • Cat Pump 1051 high-pressure pump
  • 5.5 kW three-phase motor
  • No pre-treatment stage
  • 415V three-phase power supply
  • 10 × 5,000 L filtered water storage tanks (50,000 L total)
  • On-site control room with continuous monitoring by an on-site operator

Results Achieved

  • Reliable daily potable water production since 2013 with no operational failures
  • Full-property supply covering drinking water, showers, pool, kitchen and amenities
  • 50,000 L of filtered water storage buffering against demand peaks and raw water variability
  • Tap water safe for drinking, brushing teeth and showering
  • Enhanced guest experience and long-term operational resilience for the owners
